If you’ve experienced dissatisfaction, discomfort, or complications as a result of a previous breast augmentation using implants, board-certified Augusta plastic surgeon Dr. Billy Lynn can replace or remove breast implants and reduce, enlarge, or reshape your breasts.

If you have experienced any one of the following feelings or conditions, it may indicate that you are a good candidate for this procedure:

Dissatisfaction: Your implants no longer suit your lifestyle.

Desire for a Size Change: You may wish to exchange your implants for smaller or larger implants; or you may want to switch from saline to silicone gel implants (or vice versa).

Capsular Contracture: You’ve experienced sensitivity, infection, and bleeding that exacerbate internal scarring. Along with overly firm breasts, or spherical breasts that look unnatural, these are among the known symptoms of capsular contracture.

Implant Malposition: You believe one or both implants have been poorly placed. This can result in an unnatural appearance (e.g., your breasts are too high, too close, too far apart, or unequally placed).

Rippling: This symptom can occur if your implants were placed in an area that lacks adequate tissue to accommodate them or if a saline implant wasn’t sufficiently filled.

Implant Leakage or Rupture: If you’ve experienced significant force against your chest, it could have caused a breast implant to rupture. A rupture can result in the immediate deflation of saline implants, with obvious effects on your appearance, or a slow deflation of silicone gel implants.

During your personal consultation, Dr. Lynn will listen to your reasons for pursuing breast implant revision or removal, and he will work with you to choose the best course of treatment so that you are happy with the shape, size, and appearance of your breasts.

Recuperation and Healing

If you just have your implants removed, your pain will be minimal. If your implants and capsules (scar tissue) are removed, you can expect a level of discomfort similar to what you experienced after your initial augmentation procedure. Dr. Lynn can control any post-operative discomfort with oral medication. Within one day, you can shower and continue non-strenuous work. You may resume strenuous work after 3 to 6 weeks.
